What a week I’ve had!
I am sitting here at the moment singing with Mark while he plays the guitar on Guitar Hero, tis so much fun 🙂
This week off work has been mental in the best kinda way but with so much excitement here is a brief break down:
Sunday – Tuesday
Wigwams, blogged about here
Mark and I went to the cinema to see Inception and picked up my Mum from the airport after her week in Ireland visiting family
A trip to the Dentist followed with a visit to Mum and then food shopping for the party
Was Beths birthday and we took her to the cinema for the first time to see Toy Story 3. She was great during the film and only started to get a bit twitchy about 30 mins before the end when she got up, put her bag on and declared “Right guys, I’m ready to go now, I’m hungry”. I cried buckets at the end of the film much to her amusement 🙂 After the film we went to Frankie & Bennys for lunch and it was a lovely family time out.
At night the grandparents and aunties (and Uncle Des) came over too see Miss B and she was brought lots of lovely presents and a very yummy cake from her Gug. Once the visitors had gone I then started doing all the party food that I could and decorated 40 cupcakes!
After very little sleep the night before I was up early for more party preparation. I booked a local sports centre where we had a bouncy castle, trampoline and lots of soft play equipment. The kids had an hours play in the gym hall and an hour in the room for food but thankfully they kind of leave you to your own devices and the kids got longer in the play room 🙂
The party was a hit with lots of compliments about the birthday girl, the hall, the buffet and the cake.
I decided in my madness that I was going to make her cake for the party and when we were talking about it Beth asked if she could have a purple glitter cake. No problem I thought and came up with a star shaped cake with purple glitter infused icing. Now, I know I can bake. I am good at it, my cakes always turn out and are well received but I had this constant horrible feeling that it wasn’t going to work out. I think it was probably knowing that people knew it was me who was making it and feeling a bit of pressure. Thankfully there was no need, my cake was awesome. Several people complimented me on it and I also got a request to make one for someone else. I don’t know if I will yet but I am thinking about it J
Beth shares her birthday with one of our best friends and he decided he was having a retro 90’s party for it. Seriously, how old have I gotten that the 90’s are now retro?!?! Anyway, as always it was a great night and they even had their own rave room. Genius! We could dress up if we wanted so I chose to wear some rather fetching joggies tucked into my slouchy socks and Nike Air Max, Nike hoodie, lots of bangles and MASSIVE hoop earrings and I looked amazing 😉 We didn’t leave until after 3:30 this morning, how I’m still awake I will never know!
Mark went to my Mums to pick Beth up and in my wisdom I decided it would be a great idea to clear out the bedrooms and my wardrobe. It took freaking hours but I am sooooo glad I did because I finally cleared out a lot of rubbish that I have been hanging onto for no apparent reason.
Tomorrow I am back at work and I must admit I am really looking forward to it. Don’t get me wrong, another few days at home would be great especially as I am in the clearing out mood but I have missed work. I’ve been there for 3 months now and love it. For me work isn’t a necessary evil that I need to endure to pay the bills, I really enjoy what I do. It’s a really interesting job which changes all the time and there is so much scope for my personal and career development which is also another added bonus.
Anyway, time for bed. Night all
Here are some pictures from Beths birthday J
